What is Gestalt?
Gestalt comes in many forms. Mindful Gestalt Practice is an awareness practice that supports all of us in being present with “what is,” in the here and now in order to bring about our natural human tendency toward healing and wholeness. It is a way to support each other with presence, curiosity, attunement, choice, equanimity, and acceptance. Gestalt Psychology was first developed by Dr. Fritz Perls in the 1950s and 60s. His work was further developed into Gestalt Practice by Dick and Christine Price and my mentors Dorothy Charles and Steven Harper at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. Mindfulness is a practice that originates from ancient Buddhist philosophy and is a pillar of Mindful Gestalt Practice - inviting breath and present-centered awareness to support inner guidance, emotional regulation and our natural tendency toward wholeness and healing.
